No sugar challenge, Day 5 of 5: Last day or is it?
Yesterday I slipped up again.
I was picking up some food from my parents’ place when my mom, at the last moment, thrust into my arms one of my favorite desserts — mango dessert filled with cream. How could I say no to that? I thanked her a went down to my car.
Never to waste a moment, once I got into the car and remove my mask, I popped one of the desserts into my mouth. At the same time, I was thinking to myself, “Barb isn’t going to miss one of these dessert, will she?”
Moments after consuming the entire dessert in one fell swoop, I realized that I was still on a no-sugar challenge! I called up my mom to complained that she knew I was on the no-sugar challenge and she still gave me the dessert. She said, “How am I supposed to know when you challenge starts and ends?” Quite right.
Ladies and gentlemen, while unfortunate that I ate the dessert, I realized that my blaming someone else and then judging myself at the same time was not serving me. I decided to accept it, learn from it, and move on.
This lesson doesn’t just apply to no sugar challenges!
The no sugar challenge has been extended for one month! Dr. Lisa will check in with us to see how we are doing. While I don’t think I’ll go completely off sugar during the month, I am going to be working on being more mindful.
If you have no or low sugar recipes, write them down below and share with the community.
Enjoy your weekend!
P.S. I have reserved the remaining desserts in my fridge for later tonight or the next day when the sugar challenge is over.
