With my parents celebrating their 43rd wedding anniversary on November 1, my wife and I decided to give my parents a different type of anniversary gift — showing them another part of the city they rarely visit — Sorauren Park in Roncesvalles.

Braving the cold temperatures we saw easily over 1,000 pumpkins on display. From stellar pumpkins to the classic jack-o-lantern, all types of pumpkins were out for presentation. Each year, on the day after Halloween only, the residents of this local community bring their pumpkins to Sorauren park.

This was my third year attending. I’m not sure which type of weather I enjoyed better– cold weather or rainy cold weather (last two years). Overall, the family was impressed that this pumpkin parade was available to see in Toronto. While not an expensive gift, my wife and I hope that this experience will last a lifetime for my mom and dad. Happy anniversary!

I strongly encourage you to make the trek out to Roncesvalles next year on November 1 and see this display of community spirit!
